These are some of the things I brought with me from the Philippines:
- Monea Mango Hair Spa
- Pond’s Clear Balance Smooth Pores Pore tightening Facial foam w/ glacial clay
These are the Skin and Body care products that I bought from Walmart. I’m sure you can find them anywhere.
- Clearasil Daily Facial Scrub
- L’oreal Collagen moisturizer
- VO5 2-in-1 shampoo & conditioner w/ Soy Milk protein
- St. Ives Purify Exfoliating body wash w/ Sea Kelp & Mineral Salt
- Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle
- Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum Wine
I’ve been using them for about a week now, but it’s still too early to say anything conclusive. However, with regards to the Pond’s Clear Balance Smooth Pores facial foam, I absolutely love it.

It’s too bad that the extremely cold weather is making my skin need a lot of moisturizing rather than pore tightening. If I was back in the Philippines, this facial wash would have been very helpful. So, I’ve been minimizing using it and leaning towards Cetaphil Daily Facial Wash for Normal to Oily Skin.
The next thing I found while shopping downtown was the Monea Mango hair spa which I used to love when I had straight hair. Now that I have curly hair, I think it’s actually taking away the curl from it! I’m not too sure if that’s a good thing, but it’s definitely more manageable.
price: Php 70-100

It’s great as a conditioner, I can’t say it has done anything extra special for my hair. Or maybe it has, i just haven’t taken the time to notice it. When the weather is super cold, you just stop caring too much about your hair. I just let it all hang low so it helps me stay warm. lol!
So, when we went to Walmart, I had to get a few things I needed that I was unable to bring with me.
I saw St. Ive’s Apricot Scrub there, but opted to get this Clearasil Daily Facial Scrub instead because the former wasn’t really working on me. I must say that this product has potential. Full review will be up soon… I hope. The beads in this are super fine and they are not harsh on my skin at all. I only exfoliate once in two weeks here because I feel like it stings my skin if I do it more often. Maybe because of the cold weather.
I also needed a moisturizer. I was looking for the matifying one that I was using back in the Philippines, but they didn’t have it. There were so many options, I got so confused. So, I stuck with what I was familiar with. I realized this L’oreal Collagen Moisturizer wouldn’t be too bad. I know that I’m supposed to put in extra efforts in moisturizing during winter time, but I have extra oily skin, I’m sure I can manage with just this.
The main reason why I got this particular shampoo was because of the color. I read that to maintain bleached hair, I had to use a blue or violet shampoo. Well, this looks blue, so I guess it will have to do!
It also says it takes care of dry damaged hair. Thanks to bleaching, I feel like my hair won’t last long if I just let it be without making an effort. Nevertheless, it was sold for less than a dollar and it’s huge, so it’s definitely a great deal for me.
Up next, I needed a body wash. Instead of going for Bath & Body Works, which I absolutely love, I opted for the most convenient and accessible one… St. Ive’s Purify Exfoliating body wash w/ Sea Kelp & Mineral Salt. The name sounds so fancy and it smelled so good. i’ve used it the whole week and I think it made my skin a lot more soft and smooth. It gently washes and cleanses your body of dead skin, so I have to say I like it a lot.
The next two items I got were makeup. I told myself over and over again that I don’t need it, but I was so curious about these products because I heard so much raves about them. I had to try them out and see what the buzz was about.
Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle
All I can say is that it’s very moisturizing. It’s perfect for winter time when the lips get really dry and chapped. It locks in the moisture in the lips the entire day. This particular color is very sheer. As you can see from the swatch, it blends with my skin tone. When you apply it on your lips, it looks very subtle, but it also gives you a nude look with a hint of peach. i don’t like the packaging to be honest. When you open the cover, you’re left with so little space to get a good grip on the product and twist it up. I feel like if I was in a hurry, i would drop it, or it would definitely fly off my hands because there’s just not much hold. Other than that, they’re great, but i wouldn’t go GAGA over them.
Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Plum wine
I don’t really understand the concept of this blush, but I guess it’s a marketing strategy. I don’t fascinate myself with the bounciness that much; however, I do love the consistency and pigmentation of it. I don’t know how much it costs in the Philippines, but if it’s sold for more than Php100, then I don’t think it’s worth all that money.
