What do you bring with you in your Makeup Bag?
As a woman, it is important to look our best at all times. So, we must never forget to bring along a makeup bag containing essential cosmetics to keep ourselves looking fresh all day, every day.
Not only that, we all have those rush hour days when we can’t seem to wake up early enough and we end up sacrificing getting ready just to get to work on time. Well, from experience, I did my makeup in the car with the bad boys I will be showing you later on and they were life savers!
Apart from that, bringing a makeup bag will allow us to be ready for any spontaneous night-outs, dates or after-work dinner and cocktails. Switching up a look can easily be done with the help of a fool-proof makeup bag.
These are my guidelines when choosing products to put in my makeup bag:
- It has to be travel-sized, or at least convenient enough to put in a small bag.
- It has to be in a secure, durable container that will prevent spilling or breakage when you bring it with you.
- It has to be versatile. Something you can use with any kind of look.
- It has to be quality makeup, a product you can rely on.
This is the list of items I choose to bring with me in my makeup bag:
- Kabuki brush
- Dual makeup brushes for face and eyes
- Blot powder
- Setting spray
- neutral eye shadow palette
- Black liquid liner
- Black pencil liner
- lip liner
- lip gloss
Below are the specific products I chose to put in my makeup bag because of the previously stated guidelines. They might seem like a lot, but like I said, your makeup bag has to be your Beauty-best friend.
When choosing a makeup bag, I always think of size and look. I want it to be big enough to contain all the products I will be bringing, and classic enough to match any bag I decide to use. The one I am using now is of no particular brand, but it is durable, and very spacious.
For my blotting powder I chose MAC blotting powder in Medium because it works. I have been using it for 2 years now and it never fails me. You can always use a regular powder, it doesn’t have to be a “blotting powder” but the purpose of this is to touch up on shiny areas on your face, and to set concealer when you retouch it.
The Kabuki I bring with me is retractable and can be used for powder and blush. It has been with me for 3 years now and it still works great. I got it from Cebu way back then. You can find several retractable kabuki brushes out there, and I have to say, they are very convenient to use. The rest of the brushes I bring are dual ended and mine are from Love & Beauty by Forever 21
As for concealer, I bring the Sheer Cover Dual concealer in Light/Medium because it’s cream so it has great coverage, it comes in two shades for my under eyes and blemishes, and it is so tiny and cute! I got this from my very first Influenster Voxbox.
For Blush, I decided to use Elizabeth Arden. Although it is not very pigmented, I like it because the packaging is slim and classic looking, not to mention very durable, plus the shade fits any makeup look I decide to wear. It comes with its own brush which I don’t really use, but is quite functional. So, thank you to Charles of Wickermoss blog for sending this to me!
Some women prefer not to bring an eye shadow palette, but personally, I think it’s very important. I always have to check if my brows are on-point mainly because I have none! So a good neutral palette will not only serve to retouch or change up my eye look, but also a huge help on days when I only have brows, mascara, and lipstick on.
I chose this Maybelline quad because it is designed for travel and the colors are not the usual, boring neutrals.
Don’t ever forget to bring a liquid or pencil liner and mascara! This can transform you in seconds! I chose to bring a felt-tip pin so i don’t have to worry about application when I’m in a moving car, or anywhere applying liquid liner with a brush would mean a huge disaster. A pencil liner will serve as an instant smokey eye tool. Just smudge away!
For the lips, I love wearing matte. I also love wearing bold, bright colors. but If I were to choose a shade that is flattering with any look and looks very natural, I would go for this Maybelline lipstick. I have received so many compliments every time i wear this color, so of course I would put it in my makeup bag.
I don’t like lip gloss, but if I needed it, I had to be sure I had it! A lip liner will not only help your lip color to stay on longer, it will also give you an instant lip injection.
Last, but certainly not the least is a makeup setting spray. Why?:
- It will refresh your face after a whole day of hard work.
- It will allow your makeup to set well on your face and make instant touch ups.
- It will prolong your makeup.
That’s everything in my makeup bag. Do not forget to bring blotting sheets, especially if you have oily skin like me! This will get rid of the excess oils before you apply your blotting powder. I keep mine in the back pocket of my bag along with my mirror.
